Police foil terror attack on Ottawa Jewish community

Police averted a planned terror attack on Ottawa’s Jewish community, the capital city’s mayor said Saturday night.

“I was shocked to learn the details,” Mayor Mark Sutcliffe said on X.

“I’m grateful and relieved that in this case, through strong investigative work, the RCMP and Ottawa Police were able to avert this planned event before it happened.”

The youth was arrested Friday in a joint operation by the federal Integrated National Security Enforcement Team with help from the Ottawa Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and Canadian Security Intelligence Service, the RCMP said in a media release Saturday afternoon. It did not release any more information about the youth or about the alleged plot.

It said information provided by CSIS was “vital” to the investigation and arrest.
