Russia has created a patch for painless vaccination

No.1260055 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Russian scientists from the Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies of RTU MIREA have created a patch for painless administration of vaccines.

The patches contain arrays of micro-needles no more than 0.6 millimeters high, which pass through the stratum corneum of the skin and do not affect the nerve endings. This method of delivering the vaccine substance is completely painless and does not put much stress on patients, including children. It is expected that in the future micro-needle patches will replace syringes.

Upon penetration, the micro-needles dissolve in minutes or hours depending on the composition. They are suitable for administering a wide range of vaccines, and in some cases allow the use of smaller doses of antigens than traditional injection.
