Everyday New Abuse in Turkey

No.1271027 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Dear Community Members,

It is estimated that there are 10 million stray animals in Turkey.

This text is my message to all anonymous people on the internet in order to draw attention to animal rights in the world and raise awareness. Unfortunately, we often come across news about animal mistreatment, abuse and murder in Turkey. A society that lacks the awareness that animals are creatures with emotions and pain perception is dragging moral values and brutality.

There are still serious deficiencies in animal rights and stray animals are defined as property in our constitution. The lack of animal rights in our country, the difficult situations that many animals are exposed to, and the lack of state policies push us to hope that we can start a new reaction movement. At this point, more effective legal regulations on animal rights should be made and efforts should be made to increase social awareness.

It is our duty as aware people to oppose violence and abuse against animals and to fight for their rights. We must come together as a society and make an effort to defend animal rights and raise awareness on this issue.

Let's not forget that animals are also living beings and should receive the respect they deserve.
Let me give an example of some inhumane animal killers in Turkey in 2024:

Murat Özdemir
A cleaning officer at Eyüp Sultan Mosque in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul. He tortured and murdered more than 40 cats (including kittens) by pouring vitriol on them in Eyüp cemetery (a cemetery next to the Mosque where he worked) in front of the cameras. It is estimated that the number of cats he killed was over 100 and the deaths spread to different neighborhoods. The methods he used included knife attacks.
