The president was incensed to the point of shouting and swearing during a meeting at the White House in January during which he was informed of his dipping numbers in battleground states like Michigan and Georgia, a lawmaker told NBC News on the condition of anonymity.

The low numbers stemmed from voters' discontent with Biden's response to the war in Gaza, the lawmaker said. Even so, Biden maintained during the meeting that he was doing what he thought was right in the region, NBC reported.

Biden believes he hasn't received enough credit for his successes with the recovering economy and on prescription drug prices, and he's urged his aides and speechwriters to make his wins plain for all to see during major events like his State of the Union address, NBC reported

Biden has also been eager to get out in public and tout his record, resisting advice from aides who have tried to shelter him from public view in case he makes a gaffe or stumbles, NBC reported.
