>>1991355I am a staunch defender of telescoping rods, but only for backpacking and travelling. It's easier to manage a backpack and get to remote locations with a telescoping setup, and there are decent carbon ones with stainless eyelets. I have used a couple of $25 Hurricane Makos for several years, and they have treated me very well. Pic related is one of them, and a 5-6 lb jack. I have brought in large catfish and bass up to 7 lbs with these rods as well.
