"why do people work out? you sweat and get muscle pain."
why does anyone do anything challenging?
it's because the rewards are worth the effort.
the feeling of relaxing next to a fire that you made, in a spot you hiked out to, it makes the rest feel rewarded and earned. With our modern way of life it is often easy to lose touch with struggle, we can have a burger that takes 40 seconds to cook, delivered to our door 24/7, we have shelter, warmth, water, etc. All handed to us with very minimal to no effort. it makes us lazy, lethargic, and makes us feel entitled to a life in which we should never have to strive for anything, where all rewards should be instant with no effort put in to get them. challenging ourselves means we don't fall prey to that mindset.
Out of endeavour comes good things. God could have spent his seven days resting, but he didn't, he worked to create the heaven's and the earth, and out of it this beautiful world was born. only after he had worked towards something did he see it fit to rest.
You should realise that just because something doesn't reward you instantly, doesn't mean it's not worthy of your time.
