Please note that in this case I did wash my hands throughly with soap and water afterwards because ashes and cold water from the barn were not enough to remove all of the marine grease and it instead formed an emulsion of ash grease and water that I felt necessary to remove before it did lead to a caustic burn. Should you find yourself in this situation warmer water and maybe a wash rag will significantly help to the grease. I will post the same hand tomorrow to show it is free of any alkali burns.
