First, I didn’t win, so REEEEEEEE! Plus sour grapes, etc etc., but hear me out.
For those unfamiliar with it, GGG is a sort of online store specifically for ultralight gear. They carry a lot of obscure cottage brands as well as larger, better known names, but the focus is on the former.
3 or 4 times a year they have a large giveaway. It’s usually several thousands of dollars worth of stuff, and each giveaway is themed. The latest one was specifically cottage vendor gear.
The rules are simple. You get 5 entries for signing up with a valid email address. You can get two additional entries for each vendor you follow on Instagram. You can end up with a total of 115 entries, and the vendors end up with more followers to advertise to.
I‘m suspicious that it being exploited somehow due to the number of entries (around 500,000) but a strange lack of people being followed on Instagram.
First GGG isn’t a huge thing. You can see that from their Instagram presence of 80k followers. I know alternative athletes and obscure bands with more followers. So how would so many people have found out about this giveaway?
The real kicker is how the giveaway works. It’s very, very easy to follow the vendors, and considering how many more entries you get, who wouldn’t?
