>>2284046The garden is fenced off, 6 foot fence. Deer could technically jump it if they wanted to, but the motivation is enough for them. Garden is just over an acre, but I've planted much less than that because I got a late start this year. I already mentioned the current crops. Orchard is just shy of an acre and on the other side of the property. The apple and pecan trees will likely need a couple more years before they produce anything; the lemon tree is still less than waist high, but it gives me two or three HUGE lemons each year. Black persimmons grow all over the property, they're native (I have maypops too, but the deer ate them all before I got to them this year; they don't really taste like much anyway, kinda grassy). My three bee hives are located in the garden, I ordered all the shit online. GO SLOW, don't over use the smoke, and learn to back off when you agitate the bees. I don't know shit about beekeeping, I'm learning as I go, but they seem happy and productive. Add spearmint essential oil to their sugar water to keep it from molding, and lemongrass oil to the hive, it makes the bees more inclined to take root there and not leave. I have two more, unoccupied, hives that they'll hopefully expand into next year. Having bees lets me get an ag exemption on my taxes, as well as fertilizing my crops and giving me honey.
