These fuckers. These fuckers right here. I use the pliers on my Leatherman when I'm /out/ all the time, to remove these fuckers from my boots and pants.
They're hard. They're sharp enough to draw blood. And they've got microscopic barbs on the ends, so you can't touch them with your fingers, or else they'll stay stuck on your skin.
I've also used the pliers to: handle hot items, like the foil packets of a hobo dinner, fresh out of the campfire. To crack nuts. To pull up stubborn tent stakes.
The pliers are probably the most used tool, for those reasons. The pliers are what you use when you don't want to touch stuff with your hands. But I've used most of the other tools, too. Not including the knife:
I've used the saw to trim kindling for a wood burning stove, and to cut down large pieces of litter I find while hiking when it's too big to fit in my trash bag.
I've used the screwdriver to tighten a loose flick-lock joint on my trekking poles, open battery compartments, and mount stuff to my tripod screw. I've used the pry bar (mistakenly called the "large screwdriver" in Leatherman literature) to pry open Sterno cans. I've even used the file to file down a surface on my phone case, to make the pieces mate better.
So, would you need a multitool? If you can't think of a reason, probably not. I'm still going to carry mine.
