>Supercat stove>12cm Imusa mug>Batchstovez pot lid>fiberglass wick for priming and handle insulation>can lid for stability>soda can wind screen>fuel bottle from the trash>mini Bic>titanium spoon with a chrome headThe entire setup was maybe $25. The lid was the most expensive part.
I used DIY lids for years (pie tins, roasting pans, etc.) but was never too happy with them; they were just too fragile. The Batchstoves is just a simple aluminum disk with a lip and a piece of rope for a handle. Works great.
The pot (really it’s a large mug) is pretty ubiquitous. They’ve been around for a while. Sometimes Walmart has them. The price is all over the place though, but always cheap. The handle can get pretty hot, so you need something (a bandana works ok).
The fiberglass was an ok idea. It’s held on with red RTV and has held up surprisingly well. I almost never need to prime the stove; in fact I’ve done that maybe once when it was like 25°F (I’m in the South so that’s very rare). Pic was new at the time and the handle is pretty grimy now.
The lid helps with stability, and is also held on with red RTV. TBDesu it’s not needed, I just like the piece of mind. The stove can be tippy but only if you’re retarded.
The stove is the typical Supercat design. It’s been popular for decades. Mega cheap, easy to make, reliable, predictable, weighs less than an ounce, doesn’t make a sound… just great all around.
