>>2183083I carry a knife pretty much everytime I go /out/ - sometimes a small hatchet as well. Once I did have a rozzer come up and speak to me, but he just said that it was great to see people going out, even tho it was obvious we weren't going to be camping on a paid site. Obviously, you probably won't need a knife (I use mine mainly for helping me build shelters, cutting food (I often cook fresh in the woods, pic related) or for shaving wood for a fire, or just with my ferro rod).
I'm quite lucky actually, i've got a really good local spot, where no one goes - I've been there for 3 days straight before without seeing anyone. As other anons have said, it's quite simple. Just get out there and pitch up, don't have a fire the first night, you can work your way up to that.
