>>2713082Everyone will tell you to buy a Samick Sage, and there's nothing wrong with them as they are decent quality and are definitely hunt-worthy. But I say go with an OMP instead. Similar bows, but OMP has better customer service. I accidentally destroyed my OMP bow (through sheer stupidity, not the bow's fault), and they not only replaced my bow, but let me choose any bow that they offer so I ended up getting a higher end one that's worth twice as much. They could have told me to fuck off, or just gave me a replacement for the one I broke. Real stand up American company.
Make sure your first bow a takedown so that you can learn on weaker limbs, then upgrade them when you're ready without having to purchase an entirely new bow. I'd start with 20-25 lbs max. It may seem light, but if you go heavier you will be fighting against holding form, plus you won't be able to shoot as many arrows per session. Both will significantly slow down your ability to learn and improve. The way you get better at archery is by shooting lots of arrows, so if you can only shoot 20 arrows before your shoulder is shot for the day, it'll take forever.
