East Coast Foragers: What's your favorite species that we have here that PNW sissies wish they had?
For me it's the Lanmaoa boletes, and butterball boletes. Eastern white pines are some of the most bountiful trees in the world for mycorrhizal species.I can collect a year's worth of pristine Leccinum boletes, Suillus boletes, lanmaoa boletes, A. muscaria, Chants, hedgehogs, choice lactarius, etc in the same trail for almost the entire summer and fall just because it's all eastern white pine and oaks. right now at freezing and windy temps we've got enoki, oysters and brick caps exploding all over, lion's mane if you're lucky. and there's zero competition in central PA.
