Here’s one I tried that has promise: instant gumbo.
1 tbsp instant roux (the powdered kind)
~1/4 tsp each celery seed, onion powder, paprika, garlic powder, filé powder, and Cajun seasoning
1 bouillon cube
12 oz water
1/4 cup rice
It was too much bouillon. It really overpowered everything. But it definitely has promise.
I went light on paprika and garlic powder as well. Paprika isn’t used in gumbo but it has the same flavor profile as bell pepper (it’s made from a related plant). Same with celery seed and celery (it’s a different flavor but the same profile).
This is just a broth and rice. Smoked andouille would be added (or smoked kielbasa if you can’t get andouille).
