Good call to do Abel Tasman later, it's as beautiful in colder months as it is in summer. In fact might even be more enjoyable during winter because the area tends to be warmer and sunnier than most of the country so if you catch a week of good weather it's like reliving a mini summer. My only advice would be to wait till you really have sun 'cause a big part of what makes this particular walk attractive is the ocean and beaches and you won't get the full potential of colours and beauty unless it's bright
Nice weta, only place I've seen them in the wild was in the Ruahines tho I know they're supposed to be a bit everywhere
