I don't hold much against him though. I live near the most remote area in the 48 states, and I struggle to see how anyone can get lost. I've lost campsites and people before. But when that happens I usually just pick hill, walk to the top, and then either find what I'm looking for or walk to the nearest road. I've spent a night outside when I didn't plan to.
I don't think there's many places in the world left were you can get truly lost. Now if adverse weather conditions arise or you're injured while you're "misplaced" you could still die. But if you're trying to make a show about survival, you are going to have to exaggerate your circumstances and dodge civilization a bit.
I don't watch television programs anymore. If I want to learn about bushcraft and survival, I'll watch clumsily made youtube vids. No drama needed
