being able to dunk it and just put it down on the rocks is one of the best parts, watching an alvey get washed over rocks and smashed by waves is kind of funny knowing it will be fine and an egg beater would be fucked.
with proper technique you can cast very far, I was taught by a ex long distance casting champion and he like many others won using an alvey.
I know 70 year old fisho's who use their fathers old alveys still.
