I just got these new hanwag Alaska, the size seems good, I got a roomy toebox, the foot is held in its upper portion and the ankle, while the forward part is looser, is got 1.5 index fingers worth of space if I push my foot forward.
I’ve been using them as everyday shoes for the past 2 days to try them, break them in and see how to adjust the way I tie them.
I have noticed that after hours of wearing them the curve under my feet gets a bit uncomfortable, so I think I need an insole to support it, and it has a pressure point where the foot and boot bend at the ankle where it gets a bit uncomfortable after a while, maybe I have to tighten the laces on the foot more so that the bend isn’t the main retention point for the boot.
As for the leather, water soaks in it, so I figure it hasn’t been treated at the factory, I’ll buy a product to do it, I’ve read wax can permeate inside and give problems but idk what kind of problems, or there’s dwr stuff.
