You guys know knots, right? I need to find the right type of knot for a particular application and I don't know the terminology to just google it.
What I want is a loop of rope sized to go under my bed frame and over my mattress, tied by some adjustable knot. Most of the time it would encircle only the frame and be stowed under the mattress, but sometimes I'd want to pull the under the mattress part up so it's on top of the mattress. Then I'd need to pull the loop tight and secure it with the adjustable knot, so the loop can't travel up or down the bed. Afterwards, I'd want to be able to easily release the tension while leaving the knot intact.
I tried out Blake's hitch but found it was difficult to release when it was part of a tight loop. I also wasn't thrilled with how easily the loop moved up and down; possibly some other setup would let me pull it tighter, or maybe I just need a less stretchy rope. Anyone know of a knot that would work better?
