>>2709498Get a bike and ride it around for a season or 2 doing shorter trips while you build your loadout and figure out what works and what upgrades you'll need. Keep in mind there's two different kinds of adventure bike. There's road bikes you can take offroad and there's dirtbikes that you can drive on the road. The KLR leans to the former, the DRZ and Honda XR tend to the latter. Either way you're going to want to upgrade seat, footpegs and fuel tank. Other common upgrades are handlebar risers, skid plate, and side cover protectors to keep your shift or brake lever from punching into your engine when (not if) you dump it. For luggage I use a pelican case on the back rack with a drybag and a backpack, although saddlebags would be nice eventually. I wish you Godspeed, good weather, and open roads.
