>>2816316True but I'm not huge in to bait fishing, it's kinda boring waiting for a bite. The fly is hard because you have to find carp that are already actively feeding, make an accurate cast- sometimes long and accurate- and drop a weighted fly on the fish's nose without spooking it. Even if you do all that right the fish may or may not eat. And they'll also spook for anything- your fly landing too hard, your fly coming in to their field of view too fast, a bird flying over head, another fish swimming through the area too close or too fast, your shadow, you, your footsteps, a boat. I only hook about every 4th or 5th catchable carp I make a presentation to. it really takes what is often precieved as a stupid bottom feeding rough fish and shows you just how discerning they really are.

I love barbless hooks, especially barbless treble hooks, they make unhooking so much easier for you and much less distressing and damaging for the fish. Just maintain tension during the whole fight. Also know that barbless is hard with bait because the barb holds the bait on the hook.
