>>1483456Now I said nothing like that, but phoneposters ruining the internet, not just 4chan, is a fact. It turns out that having to sit down at a stationary computer or haul around a laptop was just enough of a filter to keep people who weren't at least a little interested off of the internet. If you have to take that extra step, you are more likely to be interested in the topic of discussion, willing to learn the rules of discourse on any particular website, and also unwilling to shit up discussion. When the average joe can pull out his phone at a bar or a party, they have less inclination to learn about what is and isn't acceptable on a website beyond the most superficial details.
This problem is made worse when the newcomers greatly outnumber the older users, so the noobs only ever see the website in its advanced stages of degradation and they think it's the norm. It was even evident back in 2011, when I saw people pull out their phones and laugh at advice animals used completely out of context, because "lol check out this meme dude". So now you know, and hopefully you think before you mindlessly post more stupid shit, and together we can fix the internet, one converted phoneposter at a time.
