>>2140816Bump real outdoorsmen build cairns. Only fake ass hippie tier liberal losers drop their onions lattes whilst hiking and kvetch at the sight of stacked rocks.
As with most things regarding the environment liberals have good intentions but are absolutely retarded about the cause and the effect of their actions.
The opposition to cairns (rock stacking) come down to 3 main arguments.
#1
>muh bugs homeThey believe disturbing rocks hurt bugs and other small life. This argument can be easily dismissed as bugs and other life that make a home under rocks aren’t by any stretch of the imagination endangered and will just as easily find another rock or fallen tree to hide under.
#2
>muh erosion They believe taking rocks away from certain areas (river beds in particular) will cause soils to erode as the rocks help bind the soil together. This is one of the more convincing arguments but it too falls flat on its face under a little scrutiny.
First most rock stackers don’t dig into the ground to take rocks but grab rocks that are on the surface anyway.
Second there are far too many rocks and too few people that actually spend their time doing this successfully for it to make even the slightest difference. Piss in an ocean.
#3
>muh leave no traceA noble idea sure but the real problem here is human overpopulation which will continue to bulldoze any attempt at preservation if left unchecked. If you think about any environmental issue as a matter of fact you will find that the real problem is human overpopulation. If there were only 100 people on the planet for example a man could throw trash everywhere and pollute shit all he wants and it wouldn’t make a single fucking bit of difference. The environment and time will easily leave no trace of him. Rocks will erode and fall.
Raging at rocks while we are on the brink of a mass extinction level event is worse than thinking a faceberg Like is going to end poverty in some third world country.
