im counting on amazon and DHL to start auctioning off their transits and sprinters within the next 3-5 years. while they have more issues, maybe lackluster engine performance, all the maintenance will have been done and the worst of the worst will be naturally culled out by thousands of miles of deliveries
as for space saving, just get something bigger. build cabinets or get a lot of hooks to hang shit. install propane and water outside on roof or tail racks. i dont have the luxury of skill/money to make cabinets or have a tall headliner so i installed my water supply overhead in a 10' DWV, above my panels, and plumbed thru the roof. ama, what worked for me varies significantly from what r*ddit or YT will tell you. it holds 28L which lasts me about 2 weeks on 1 refill, 1 week if i shower, or i can stretch it up to a month worst case scenario.
