I bought Vargo titanium wood and alcohol stoves about 5 years ago, and recently went perma/out, at which point I left the alc one behind due to fuel weight. My original intention was having the alc for wet weather fire starting difficulty, but a little dab of pine resin, which I have a ziplock full of, solves that. I would say if you're only going out for weekenders or just a few days at most and will be returning to an actual home then alc stoves are pretty great, you won't be carrying so much other shit so the fuel weight, which you won't need that much of, will not be significant. I had two Nalgene containers for carrying it, a small, maybe 4 or 8 oz, and larger maybe 32. I wouldn't always be anywhere near any place to get more fuel, so the small would constantly be running out on me, and the other was a good bit of weight.
