>>1440039Use the lighter one. It is better to baton the hatchet as though you were using a froe. That allows perfect sized kindling pieces to be made. Just angle the blade slightly up, a little bit on the end that is away from you, when you make each cut. If you have a bicycle tire inner tube you can tie it around the log round to help hold everything together for faster splitting. If the logs are small enough to actually hold, you can use "contact splitting" with the hatchet. Then you can make precise cuts in the most safe manner.
