Hey mtanons, I am going to visit to do a backpacking trip in Bob Marshall / hungry horse in a few weeks.
Are the higher elevation creeks ephemeral or not? Trying to plan a trip but not sure what's doable without humping 20lbs of water on my back up a mountain. Not going above treeline too much. See picrel example...
I'm looking for a ~30mi loop in either horse or Bob, any recs? Picrel is around jewel basin and hungry horse, my current leading option. Avoiding GNP because crowds and site reservations.
Needs to have access close to civilization because I'll be uber/hitchhiking in and out, not renting a car for 5 days just to leave it in a trailhead.
Also recommend me some state geology books for someone that knows what a rhyolitic intrusion embedded between a layer of schist and marble in an anticline uplifted by a reverse thrust fault is. None of that roadside geology tier bullshit, hit me with the fire hose on this state.
