>>1784919Had the BK22 (same as the BK2 but with a polyester sheath w/ front pocket) since last winter, packed it on 2-day and 3-day through hikes and a 4 day -5 hour hike in/out- bushcraft this february/march in idaho and utah/ida border. love it, but with a few minor kinks.
pros:
-bitch is like 1/4 in thick, I'm certain i could take off a whole foot with it if i dropped it from chest height
-impressive edge retention, unless I'm trying to mince sand
-buttery wood chopping, non-dairy wood is an extra two shekels
-cuts herbs, tomatoes, cooked and raw meat, root vegetables, and pizza with ease
-good for shelter-building and processing wood down to about 1/4 in and up to probably 3 in, shaves tinder quite well and sharpens stakes faster than the Viet Cong
-the choil turns my ferro rod into a flamethrower
-sheath holds muh gerber
cons
-[spoiler:lit]processing small/soft wood for fine parts and trapping because bulky[/spoiler:lit] Solved by holding with my thumb curved over the neatly shaped top of the grip, almost like it was designed to fix previous maneuverability issues :o
-manufacturer handle would be perfect if the rear guard was just a half inch lower, but it makes a difference, they have like a whole inch of handle real estate beneath it that they could be using to satisfy their wife if they lost weight
-it's a fuckin brick of steel, as the 22, the shit is hefty. I have two fairly decent hatchets lighter than my becker w/ a multi-tool
tl;dr unga bunga becker good, becker hefty
