Thinking about buying a G29 for the PCT/CDT. Anyone here own one and care to comment on how they are for long distance hiking? I would normally just get the G20 but I'd like something I could conceal when around hippies.
Speaking of hippies, do you think it's possible to hike the AT while carrying a rifle? I don't really care about upsetting the cityfags that hike the AT. I just don't want to deal with law enforcement because I know they'll report me and post about me all over their gay little journals and forums. Been thinking about hiking the AT southbound with a rifle for years as a 2nd amendment flex. I really don't want to do the AT but I might as well to get the triple crown. I've hiked most of it in sections already. Mostly want to do the thru-hike to cross it off the list.
I've tried to ask thru-hikers about this type of shit for years but they all have a stick up their ass about guns. They always say they aren't needed and it's just too much extra weight. I'm accustom to doing long mileage with a slung rifle so I don't think it would bother me much on a thru-hike. When I thru-hike I only carry like 20-30 pounds and the rifle doesn't add much to that assuming it's an AR style rifle.
I've been considering just skipping the pistol and taking an AR-15 style rifle in a larger caliber like 6.5mm. Any thoughts? Think that would be good enough to stop charging brown bears and moose?
