Crossed in Buffalo, rode Route 66 to California, rode up Highway 101, random routes to Yellowstone, camped through Sturgis, then back to South Ontario via north of lake Michigan. Took 6 weeks, and we camped for 4.5 total (few motels for shower and stayed with friends in some states). She did absolutely amazing, and it was a treasure camping with her every night. We got so good at it by the 2nd week - from parked to blanket-filled tent up and hot food cooking on the stove in half an hour. Doing it again next summer, as it was the best thing I'd ever done. Camped in forest, desert, plains, mountains, rain, shine, snowfall (nutty but that's Montana/Wyoming in the summer for you). I'd live like that forever if I could, and I wouldn't dream of doing it without her.
