>>1339569Ayyy waddap. I'm going to be soboing the PCT in '19. What's your gear list like?
>preparing/planningYou're gonna want to keep an eye on the snow reports, if it's a high snow year you want to be comfortable with snow travel. You'll also want to read up about river crossing as that's probably one of the most dangerous aspects of hiking the PCT on a high snow year. Get your water carry tactic sorted as there as some long dry stretches in the desert.
>I haven't had any experience with hiking for more than 5 days in a row before. Not really too much of an issue as you can't really train for a multi month hike. Just take it slow when you start. A lot of people push too hard at the start of a thru hike and pick up injuries that haunt them for the rest of the trail. I tend to start on 10 miles a day and work towards my 30s over two weeks. Unless you can get some time to train and condition yourself before you hit the trail. Beyond that it's a good idea just have a look at the average distance between resupply points as this will give your a rough idea of how big your food carries are going to be. Then you can calculate the rough weight of your fully loaded pack. ~2lb per day for food and 2lb/1L of water. Don't forget you'll need to have a bear can sorted for the sections that require it.
If you're planning to nobo just be aware that the PCT is super busy now. I was shocked at how many PCT hikers I met when I was on the TRT this year. This is what has made me decide to sobo.
