> notice a small patch of mud near to the tents behind the treeline of the very small clearing
> walk past it often as it is positioned on our trail between the clearing and river
> nightfalls
> we drink some honey jack, burn alot of fuel until about midnight
> absolute silence dawns over the woods around us as our laughter dies down
> it's about that time
> throw a log on the fire and drunkenly pass out
> I awake around 6am, twilight
> embers smoldering, I head to go gather some firewood before my buddy awakes
> In my peripheral - I nearly walked past it, would have if my heart didn't sink
> the mud, there's prints
> small, maybe size 6.5 US human footprint
> no sock impressions and obviously no shoes, on either foot
> this area is incredibly difficult to get to during the daytime, 100% impossible at night
> we just cut out the trail yesterday nobody knows it's here
