This thread probably gets made a lot, but whatever. I'm pretty new to /out/. I've gone camping quite a few times at campgrounds, and I'm becoming reasonably confident in my abilities with setting up shelter, making fires, etc. All the basic stuff. I want to start being "truly" /out/, but frankly its a bit intimidating. Not that I'm scared to be out in the wild, but that I'm not sure where to start. I don't want to end up in somebody's property or something, and I don't think it's legal in most states to just go off in random woods. Obviously I doubt anyone would find me if I'm just staying there for a night, but I'd rather not push my luck this early. How exactly do I find places where I can safely and legally fuck off into the woods? My understanding is that most national/state parks don't allow you to camp outside designated areas. Eastern PA if that helps.
