Honestly though one of the best hikes I've had, 650 miles, the change from forest to beach to mountains to desert is a great experience.
Plus you get to meet a ton of great people on the road

Been living out of my car for three months basically doing section hikes 3-4 days a week. Bit different, but covered a lot of miles and did portions of At, pct, cdt as well as a few national forests. Could be a good alternative if the relentless thru hike gives you pause

Extreme West Texas has some cool stuff. Franklin Mountains, Guadalupe Mountains, Big Bend, Big Bend Ranch, Balmorhea... but that's about it. I think El Paso is a great city because you get to live in Texas but experience New Mexico.

the caprock canyon trailway is that green squiggly line on the map in north texas east inbetween amarillo and lubbock and is a 54 mile trail. but thats about it
