>>2029792Sorry OP, I was once like you about cotton and then I spent some time somewhere that was actually cold. And by some time, I mean like a whole day, including night. And by cold, I mean colder than coastal mountains in springtime with canvas shoes. I mean a place where there is snow and you have to cover your face when you sleep or you could get some burns from the cold.
Basically, cotton is fine for coastal mountains in spring anywhere a canvas shoe works. You just have no idea what all the rest of us are talking about when we talk about cotton being deadly in the cold. If you wore your flannel whatever to the places I go in winter, you would die. Ok? This is what is meant by cotton kills, even though technically it is the cold and not the cotton.
Also your sweat cools you when it evaporates. The best way to prevent this cooling is to not sweat. The second best way to prevent this cooling is to get it away from your body like toweling off out of a shower for example.
Have you ever used a cotton towel? Can you think of why towels might be made out of cotton on purpose and whether there could be an implication there on how/why we use cotton to dry ourselves?
This is a really basic element of modern living by the way, keeping dry to stay warm when wearing clothing because of the cold. Remember?
