I bring tincture (liquid extract of THC/cannabis oil dissolved in ethanol alcohol) with me on hikes in my backpack.

No smell, easy to precisely re-dose when you want to.

That said, I can't recall smelling pot every anywhere on my trips to the mountains of central appalachia (pa, md, wv, va)

I take tincture prior to exercise as an incentive and to have a good feeling to contrast the pain of exertion.

anybody that smokes brazenly in parks and wilderness near others did so before legalization so I can’t imagine this would change anything. I don’t know about the ny law specifics, but at least in co it is still illegal to use in public spaces, so anywhere busy and popular that rangers or police patrol will clamp down on it. I come across people smoking in public all the damn time, including /out/ (and including places where it's a huge fire hazard, which is pretty much everywhere here in the summer) and the whole general attitude changed as well, pretty much overnight it went from a relatively fringe thing to something virtually everybody does and if you DON'T smoke you get treated like a weirdo, the same way non-drinkers used to be treated.

I literally planted three weed plants near a forest which is near an abandoned construction site. it didn't get enough sun and one of them died. the other two grew to about 30cm. it was getting cold so my mate took it home (replanted it lmao) and made some edibles. they were pretty bomb.

I hike in Colorado and since ots been legalized I haven't smelled it. Granted I dont go on the main 14er trails or any marked trails really. Have only ran into it once and it was someone's stash that they left out in the forest.

But on trails, any time I went somewhere crowded enough that there were other people, there were already people smoking weed.

I said "relatively fringe," sure it was already around but a lot more people are smoking a lot more weed since the legal risks went away, and I see it in a lot of situations where you wouldn't have seen it as much before. (Most notably people smoking while driving, can't believe how often I see somebody cruising down the freeway with a pipe in one hand, lighter in the other, and nothing on the wheel.) I've also had people tell me straight to my face on multiple occasions that it's weird that I don't smoke and just give me weird looks or an attitude on many more, even when I tell them that I used to smoke semi-regularly myself and don't do it anymore because of my job. (Which is partly true, I really am in a career where I get drug tested and a fail would ruin my life but I actually quit before that just because I was sick of making an ass of myself when stoned.)

I really hope I don't find it a lot more on trails. I'm fine with people making their own choices, even if they are bad ones, but I have never and will never smoke or intake any form of weed. I want to be able to go hiking and enjoy the outdoors and not have to deal with the stupidity weed brings or possibly get any of it in me. This isn't just against weed, it is against any form of smoking too. I'm all for freedom of expression and such with that kind of stuff, and I know I don't have the right to stop them, but I really hope that it doesn't happen.

Some boomers had that Mexican shit, my dad was a big party guy and sometime coke dealer in San Fran in the '70s and has talked about it. Even that Mexican shit is nothing compared to modern weed though, it was still around when I was a teenager (35 now) and weed has completely changed, a big part of why I stopped smoking a while back is that it became too hard to find stuff that just gave me the mellow buzz I enjoyed back in the day instead of making me trip the fuck out or get super hyper and impulsive and do shit I'd regret the next day.

I would argue this is a case of correlation not being causation. Adicts are self-medicating. Weed is just the easiest "medicine" to get at the start. If it wasn't weed to coke, it would be booze to Fentanyl. Stayed friends till about junior high but slowly stopped wanting to associate with me and became increasingly cold or rude when we would hang out. Finally called him out for being a douche and asked what his problem was, and he straight up admitted that he felt pressured to spend more time with black friends and in black culture due to his dad's direction (he was biracial white mom/blk dad).
