Post em. What is the best hike/backpacking trip you have ever been on?

Personally my favorite so far was hiking the grand canyon down south kaibab and up bright angel. Killer of a day hike but the views were amazing. A close second would be peralta canyon in the superstition wilderness, absolutely gorgeous in the spring.

Hiking into the Bob Marshall then doing a 5 day float. Wish I had taken more pics but I think one of the guys I went with has a bunch somewhere.

My very favorite backpacking trip is Kearsarge. It's in Kings Canyon National Park, on the John Muir. You start around 7k and hike up to the pass around 12k, over about 5 miles. Maybe a mile or two of that is flat, and the rest is basically stairs. Once you get to the summit? The valley is just breath-taking. And camping down by the five, terraced lakes on the side of the mountains, cliff diving into the crystal clear water? It's magic. My favorite place on Earth.

Exploring the actual backcountry in Rocky Mountain National Park stands out for me. Spectacular views everywhere and 100% solitude except for the last half-mile from where I started/ended.
Get back to me in another month about the Grand Canyon.

The Jordan Trail, at least the southern half, I think is the hike that has ticked the most boxes for me to date.
No trail, killer landscape, great sense of 'exposure' and being 'out there', very little info was available when I hiked it so it felt like a real adventure. I'd love to go back and explore between Dana and the Red Sea some more.

My favorite section ever is the Bigelow's in southern Maine. I hiked thru them while on the AT and they definitely left a lasting impression. I hope I can get there again some day.

That's cool, I want to visit places like that that have thousands of years of culture. Not that North America doesn't, its just they left so little behind. I've never seen ancient stone houses, walls, etc.
In a few days I'm doing a trip in this belt of wilderness close to Girdwood, Alaska. There's about 10 miles of wilderness along the coastal front range that looks like the Rift from Skyrim, pic rel.

And honestly, the north fork of the Flathead (I did the south fork) is also cool and much easier logistically. Just not as remote and more heavily used.

The US had a bunch of them, the surviving ones are just somewhat boring and were destroyed and later partially rebuilt or built over top of. Most of them are in the southwest US in the form of cliff dwellings, ancient canals, and ruined stone pueblo villages from 600-2,000 years ago. Mexico's ruins go back 10,000 years at least in some places but most of them were built over at a later date.

Too many to choose from, but solo hike in Gates of the Arctic NP, Alaska, might take the cake. Three Passes trek in Nepal, Wakhan corridor in Afghanistan and Fann mountains in Tajikistan are also top tier. Also did some really nice hikes in the Carpathians and the Pyrenees.

Very much enjoyed the sections I did, being Wadi Rum to Humeima and Petra-Dana, still miffed I had to cut the first leg short due to a a broken rib.

oh man! BJJ anon, one of the oddest ways I've heard of someone quiting a trail! Have you seen the trans caucasian trail stuff that being down out in Armenia and Georgia? I'm eyeing up the Armenian stuff as a potential for late summer/early autumn!

Sounds like some amazing adventures, what was your budget for each one, roughly speaking? Thinking about visiting some remote places as well and curious about the costs involved.
