You polish them manually with a fordem or if youre poor a dremel tool with soft heads you fill with polishing compound.
AZ was really great for that, less so in WI competitively but there are still interesting things to be found in the state, just little thats valuable.
Do you have a tumbler, if not I suggest getting one as many things found in WI take to tumbling well, especially some of the things you can find on the shores of the great lakes.
Not often, sometimes people even bitch about LNT bullshit here about the hobby if you start a thread about it.
Fossil hunting is fun too if haven't tried that yet, much of what can be found in WI is compacted sea floor so many shells and such can be found.
But to find better fossils you will need to travel further afield.
