>>2257531I've only ever had TSL 225 (TSL is a buy once, use for a lifetime kind of brand) so I can't really compare with other brands and snowshoes that have other binding systems, but imo the binding system on these (many TSL models have the same) is very good.
I'm a bit skeptical of some of the bindings I see on pictures posted here where your foot is hold in place by nothing but a strap. I can't imagine it feels safe to walk on anything but flat ground with that.
TSL 225 have been discontinued since I bought them nearly 20 years ago but the current equivalent model seems to be the 325 (pic related) and as you can see your foot is strapped in a plastic casing (with adjustable size to fit your shoe perfectly). It feels very secure to walk with them on any kind of terrain.
Obviously they also have a foot riser for steep ascents, but every good snowshoe has one I think. On some models (such as the one in picrel) you can also completely lock the pivot point so the snowshoe doesn't move at all under your feet but I have this feature as well and never use it, I don't really know what it's supposed to be good for (I've seen some people use it so presumably it's not completely useless)
