I've been on a bit of a mountaineering binge recently and the best stuff I've seen in that time is:

The 1996 disaster: Storm Over Everest (PBS)
Breathtaking: K2 - The World's Most Dangerous Mountain (Eddie Bauer)
Left for Dead on Everest (I Shouldn't Be Alive S04E15)

But the best one (although I know everyone has seen this) is still:
Touching the Void (2003)

Bonus (not about mountaineering but about surviving on a mountain):

Alive (1993)
Goodish film, although they could have done a lot better with the source material being a true story

I haven't seen Sorcerer yet, but it's a remake of Le Salaire de la peur which I have seen recently and is also pretty good, especially with the /out/ theme in the back of your head.

Black Robe. Has a decent adaptation (trims certain bits, expands the others, has far more coherent characters), so if you are illiterate, you can still enjoy it irregardless

I work at a library and we're all kind of excited for Northwind by Gary Paulsen to come in so we can read it. It's a bummer that it's his last book but he's been instrumental in a lot of outdoors for a lot of people.

I loved the original Hatchet and Brian's Winter, but never really got into the other books in the series. Kinda like how I loved My Side Of The Mountain, but hated the sequel.

Yeah, that's the one.
And it's funny looking at all the surroundings of the island and how desolated it was made by just pointing the camera in the opposite site. Something like that rope bridge scene in 2nd Indiana Jones, which was shot partially from a nearby dam, so all the shots are made from just one angle to not reveal the fucking 120 meters tall concrete wall
