What do you guys use for a bear canister?
I am planning a few outings this summer, and the places on my list require a use of a bear canister. Ive seen some fancy once like pic related, and then there are regular plastic ones that look like an oversized water bottle, and have an $80 price tag. oof.
weight is a factor.

Makes you wonder who at that park has stock in the company, eh
just ziplock and tape the seams overnight, hang in a tree if you want, but otherwise don't pay a food tax on going outdoors

If you're in a place that requires a bear canister, they'll have an official list of acceptable brands/models (call the rangers office) and will ticket you if you use anything else

If you're in a place that doesn't require a bear canister, just hang your food

My dad has a couple of these, one big and one small. They seem to work good. Very strong and not heavy. Unfortunately they seem to be discontinued, but if you can find a used one at a good price you might want to snag it. Also, a tip: put bright colored reflective stickers on your container so that you can find it easier if a bear carries it off into the bush.

yeah the adirondacks are like that. That's why they're not worth going to except in the winter
