What you're looking for is a Malaysian Parang. Like a hatchet, and a machete, but also like a meat cleaver and a cimeter blade.
Long enough like a cimeter blade for cutting, thick enough to swing like a meat clever, and long enough like a machete, but not too long that its too heavy and cumbersome to swing, because in that case you should be using an axe and is curve at a more woods roaming angle as opposed to the kukuri which is more of a meelee weapon.
Anything thicker than mesquite or tropic foilage, you should be sticking to an axe or a saw.
