What are some lightweight, tasty, nutritious, nonperishable foods and recipes for backpacking? Freeze dried meals are expensive and sometimes lacking in calories after a long day. How do powdered eggs and whole milk compare to the real thing? Can you rehydrate meats like jerky and will it taste good/have good texture? How long is a stick of butter safe to eat outside the refrigerator? Any good uses for olive/avocado oil while outdoors? I guess you could add olive oil to pasta to add calories. Does powdered pasta sauce taste good? Recommended brands?
