use the river/lake to wash hands. it needs to be big or fast moving. slow moving shallow streams might not have enough capacity to offset your soap. consider the wildlife.
hand sanitizer is not reliable. I like to wash a lot. water is too heavy to bring in the quantities I require. thus, find a lake/fast/big stream.
