Most the box shafts were in really good shape. These desert mines tend to hold up fairly well.

The square set timbering was very impressive. From my understanding this mine was one of the first to adopt this technique. it definitely allowed the to open up very large stopes.

Maybe you have natural caves in your area that are a bit harder to reach (no death-traps pls).
But make sure to bring spare batteries for your light. You've never seen dark like the dark inside a mile-long cave.

Not that I know of, all of them are very well known and used touristy spots. Only really large cave system that I know of is miles further north unfortunately so that's out of the question, for now at least. At least we have the deepest cave for cave diving in northern europe though, but that's my biggest fear lol

In my region we have the longest known underwater cave in Europe, "Pozo azul". 14km have been explored so far, but the cave goes on and some say it may go on for at least 20km more. It's kind of cool to know there are still unexplored places in the world like these.

Yes, but obviously the miners got all the high grade ore long ago. Most of these mines were started 130+ years ago, and very often were only mined for 10-20 years before the ore ran out.

This cemetery as per the usual was non maintained and heavily weathered.

From what I know of the area and the town most graves would have been between 1893-1900

This town was known to have a high death rate, The population peaked at around 3,000 during those years and from what I can figure it averaged 5 deaths a month over those seven years.
