Whether it’s zombies, economic, WEF, or just liberal incompetence, collapse is coming.

What are the tools, knowledge, books, groups, salvage spaces that will keep some level of civilization going?

Here’s my list of things I have never seen in post apocalypse fiction-

>>you need to fill a machine shop

>>a lathe is responsible for all other machining and advancement

>>why has no group ever gone to the scrap yard to salvage parts and materials?

>apart from a small spike in 2020, is consistently having lower crime rates for 150 year
The USA could keep chugging along even if the rest of the world collapsed, and the rest of the world would collapse first, so until they do, all you need to prepare for is retirement and maybe you car breaking down

I'm not going to /pol/ up the board any more than OP already has the but there's potential for the government and political system to break down and become dysfunctional and this would be exploited by certain countries whose founding doctrine is to erode and then subjugate the west. They're already working hard at it through several means.

If there is an actual stunning collapse of civilization (not at all likely) bugging out would be an almost immediate death sentence. Out of 350 million people there isn't wilderness and wildlife to allow for many to bug out without eventually going to war with each other. Bug in and organize with your local community. People will organize and come to brutally and selfishly eradicate competition and take resources and that will start within hours as looting and within days there'll be small armies who don't give a fuck about keeping anyone else alive.

There wont be any political breakdown, our parties shift lines every 70 years or so and each group tries to scream the loudest so their views get taken up by the majority of the party going forward. This lasts about 12 years and the only group that doesnt have a party is organized labor which is why both sides are trying to court them currently. Our system is designed to never give anyone too much power and because of the electoral college, will always be a two party system. But yes, in the event of a happening, groups of armed men in 4 wheel drive vehicles (aka light infantry) is the most effective

Government shutdowns happen on the regular now because of political gridlock, every president has to be impeached for something now, anybody who loses an election is likely to attribute it to deep state corruption and other fantasies. if people want to believe their government committed a coup and an alternate government is the legitimate one this calls into question what actions would be considered patriotic and what does military allegiance become. this is incredibly close to what's already happened and Chiner is basically MCing the internet and social media echo chambers and keeping the propaganda drums going 24/7 constantly

The only tantrums are right wingers knowing they will never win another election whilst trump is alive. The red wave was cancelled because independents came out to vote in the midterms against them, which they never do, showing everyone that all biden needs to do is not die. China really doesnt have the reach to effect things here beyond ip theft and poisoning the well, they are collapsing themselves due to one child and government debt infrastructure led growth but nothing left to build 10 years ago. Still, all you need to thrive in the usa is to open a roth ira at 18 and put $500 a month into it buying spy until you are 60 and retire with the $2.5m from it

It’s walking a fine line. Most of my scenarios I think up I usually assume or hope I can find somewhere to stash my backpack.

Goes like that, has to be stuff you actually have and could grab now. You can assume you’ll be able to hide your backpack or some gear before encountering anybody but it’s not a guarantee so be conservative with what you bring and try to make sure it doesn’t stand out much
