Lion's Bay near Vancouver kept hikers out this summer by saying the fire hazard is too high. Even the fire chief said this was not his opinion, but it happened.

This follows more than a decades long series of complaints mostly by one NIMBY, who having to look at many vehicles parked across from his house in a legitimate parking lot full of diving gear. He has occasionally taken it upon himself to sabotage this equipment by cutting hoses and also emptying or partially emptying air tanks left in the backs of unsecured vehicles.

The entire city has paid parking now except for two places, one on a school parking lot not under their control, the other is in a traffic interchange looked over by the highways department.

Nearest I can tell, this is the only place like this in the entirety of my province where the whole city conspires to try to keep out people who don't live there.
