I'm cutting up the timber on top of a mountain from a clearing job on site with a portable sawmill. It is actually very fun work (although it gets monotonous sometimes) and I enjoy creating the best quality cuts of lumber that I can and sending out nice, straight stacks. That is, when the sawmill cooperates with me. It has to be regularly tuned and maintained like any other machine to perform well and cut straight.
I am getting ready to build a cabin on my land and now I'm cutting my own orders of framing wood, siding, etc to build the cabin with. Pictured is some pine siding for the inside. The outside of the cabin will be oak, but I haven't cut that yet. Pretty neat to cut the lumber and then build a cabin with it.
