Looking to do 2-3 nights of backpacking here at the end of December. Anons who have been here, what’s a good area to go to for scenery and dispersed camping?

Just got back from camping here for one night. There was a little bit of snow on the ground and it was really windy and chilly at night. All in all a nice time though. It’s fun just hiking off trail into the woods and setting up camp. My buddy and I parked at Little Pond trailhead and just went from there, we ended up hiking into the Glastenbury Wilderness. Some good views and scenery there, would definitely go back and camp in these forests again since there is a lot of land and types of forests to explore.

I climbed Killington, the second tallest peak in VT so that's all I can tell about. Was a nice hike up, especially in fall time, think there is a camping area with wood flats 80% of the way up to summit if you're looking for a camping spot. Believe the trail for the most part is part of the Appalachian Trail.
